Time and connectivity.

Yes. But we can still have the packages for the sake of completeness.

On Ubuntu, old files were not deleted, so there was no blackout.

If the Debian packages were also left until the new ones were created,
the transition would have been smoother.

Anyway, now the Lenny problem is sorted, and Etch packages taking more
time, getting the old packages would make it at least as good as the
old situation.
